glock 10mm long slide review

Glock 10mm Long Slide Review - I would basically call it the F-350 handgun. For most everyday users, this is a ridiculously large handgun, and you usually don't take it to town. It's just not easy. But there's a reason the F350s were made, because there are users who know what they need to get a big job done. It could be a heavy payload, a long distance transfer or just plain *ss kicking.

In the MOS configuration, the G40 Gen4 is chambered in 10mm and incorporates a full 6-inch barrel for increased velocity and 15-round magazine capacity. In the MOS configuration, the G40 Gen4 is a powerful and easy-to-carry pistol. Perfect for outdoor adventurers, hunters and sports shooters. This semi-automatic game pistol is designed for the rifle hunter of choice and has proven to be capable of taking down game such as whitetail deer, Russian red deer and even wild boar.

The new Glock gun holsters are a big step forward, but I would argue that the G40 improved it. When he opened it, the case almost fell out of its contents. Everything will return to the tray, just be sure to improve your Tetris skills.

I expected the Glock to be heavier considering its size, but it was a gentle big at only 28 ounces. Now, I wouldn't call it spectacular, even for its size. Unloaded, the pistol is heavy before the long slide, but when the magazine is loaded, it starts to balance out (about 40 ounces). It wasn't until the red dot was on top that I realized it was a good neutral for long shooting sessions.

The handle itself is large. For those with small hands, there is no need to apply even without a back strap. My wife, who can reasonably grip the G17's medium backstrap in 9mm, had a hard time getting a firm grip and reaching the trigger at the same time. The lowest position seemed more comfortable for my average-sized hands, but the medium backstrap was more secure because I was in a high grip on the gun and could bite. Unlike other competition-based Glock handguns, the G40 does not have an extended slide stop.

I'm sure this will be mentioned a few times, but for reference it's the Glock Gen 4. Grips include finger grooves (which I like), squared-off grip pattern (which I also like), large and reversible. Magazine release and very low middle finger trigger guard. It comes with the standard Glock adjustable sights (which work but are hidden) and interestingly, the rear sight actually sticks out slightly from the end of the slide. Not sure if it's an engineering bug, but it's annoying for "perfection".

The MOS system or "Modular Optical System" is the latest and I found it to be a wonderful addition to the Glock family. Coming with the G40 and 9mm/.40 smaller brothers, the factory optic mount is cut into the slides. It's not innovative at all, as the aftermarket has been doing it for years, but it's useful and actually helps the "perfection" come closer to perfection.

Author's Note - Disappointing that the PFI optic shipped separately from the Pride Fowler is not compatible with the MOS system. With a model setup, the optic is too far to actually fit the target in the pistol slide. I got a Trijicon mini dot to test the MOS system (not pictured).

Usually, those who want performance must either buy an aftermarket slide, send it to be milled, or use an adapter plate to enlarge the optics. Doing so on factory loans has at least a few advantages. Once loaded into the milling machine, adding cuts is easy and cheap, the cut area can be covered instead of left hand, and it provides tighter tolerances than individual machine loads.

The MOS mount is located directly in front of the adjustable rear sight. When shipped, it comes with a smooth and profiled plate to match the slide. The mix is excellent and only those with keen eyesight or close range firearms will find that it can accept the views. The plate is held in place with two torx head screws and is easily removed for mounting the optics. The adapter plate holder is slid and the selected optics are attached to the adapter plate. Viola

When installed, it leads to another vine. Factory views are too low for any friend to witness. Another mistake for Glock, given the cost of injection molding. I know there are many marketing systems out there, but at least Glock tried.

If anyone has ever shot a 10mm before, there is nothing surprising about the Glock's performance. To me, this cartridge is like its daughter, the .40 S&W. Recoil picks up a bit, and the dual spring and heavy slide help with recoil, but not enough to get me going for the next paragraph.

Accuracy is normal for my ability with a Glock, but using the longer field radius iron sights (I usually shoot about 2") at 15 yards (Freedom Munitions 180 Grain RNFP) helped tighten it up a bit. Do. G19). After adding an optic (supplied by PFI - full review to come later), I was able to narrow it down a bit more, shooting 2.0" at 25 yards.

As with almost every review written about the Glock, the trigger is long, smooth and tight. However, I am not a fan of this since Glock decided to remove the serrations from most of their other handguns. It really emphasizes the passive safety, which after about three magazines really caused me discomfort on the trigger. After 100 rounds I absolutely hated it. Of course, individual preference will rule the day, but this is a Glock that needs an aftermarket booger switch in my opinion.

When the trigger is pulled, the MOS system actually lights up on the pistol. With added optics, this rifle is a "long range" rifle with prime hunting potential. For old eyes or just to get a quick aim, a red dot on the gun shines on moving targets. With better trigger control or a better detonation switch, the G40 could meet Glock's needs for a larger hunting rifle.

I will note, though, that to get the most out of the long barrel, you'll need to reach. Factory 10mm bars are usually "knotted".

Author's Note: Although Glock specifically encourages this practice, shooting the .40 S&W through the 10mm was possible, if not very enjoyable, due to the excellent slide to powder charge weight ratio. Glock says this voids your warranty and is legal because firing is not based on distance between heads. TFB and I do not recommend doing this at home.

The problem with Glocks reviews is that they are Glocks. There is never really anything new about them, so writers are left to find prose. It makes no difference. The G40 Gen 4 is the original Glock, only bigger. This is a great pistol for someone who wants or needs a 10mm. If you don't need 10mm, the commercial bands for more grip and sheer size aren't worth it in my mind.

On the other hand, the MOS optic mounting system is highly praised and a solid step forward for the notoriously conservative Glock company. With simple plates that can be attached to almost any micro red dot (not just PFI), it's a versatile system that worked well, although I'd be interested to see how different red dot systems handle increased recoil. .

Ultimately, the combination of the two makes this novel Glock. It's a true handgun with a 6-inch barrel (although reloading is required to get the most out of that length). It's also reliable, has a trigger rod, and it can mount a red dot sight without finding an aftermarket slide or mounting accessory.

So if you need that much weapon, this is a great quest. If you don't need that much gun, go with the smaller option, you'll be happier.

The MOS configuration G40 Gen4 is chambered in 10mm auto and combines a longer slide and barrel for increased velocity and higher magazine capacity. The modular backstrap design and retractable magazine holder allow for instant adjustment of the grip to fit any hand size. The MOS configuration makes it easy to install a reflex sight on a pistol slide without the need for a new slide or separate mounting system. The kit includes three 10-round magazines.
